  • Overview

    This position will provide GIS technical support to various services areas under the direction of the GIS Manager.

    Responsibilities

    • Gather and convert tabular and geospatial data from a variety of shared and proprietary sources into a single, cohesive database to be utilized as the basis for decisions on existing engineering and future projects in the various service areas
    • Analyze and access various datasets to support the production engineering plans, reports and presentations to include:
      • Spatial analysis of digital terrain models and contour data including:

                              i.  Slope analysis

                             ii.  Cross-sectioning

                            iii.  Site conditions

                            iv.  Line of sight analysis

    • Produce maps and exhibits to clarify and further enhance the resultant engineering design
    • Produce special graphic layouts by combining various data from multiple sources to produce complex plots using GIS software
    • Digital mapping of asset infrastructure
    • Integration with existing datasets and hardware components
    • Organize data from completed projects into an enterprise database system as a method of project inventory and data management
    • Produce GIS web based maps using Flex, HTML5, and Silverlight
    • Complete Infrastructure mapping

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or a Geographic Information System (GIS) Certificate from an accredited college or university program.
    • 3 years' experience using ERSI’s ArcGIS suite of software in a business environment, internship experience may be considered
    • Geospatial knowledge including coordinate systems and transformations
    • Ability to read and interpret surveys, legal descriptions, construction plans, and aerial/orthophotography
    • Ability to implement GIS application projects
    • Ability to produce maps and other representations of spatial data.
    • Knowledge of principles and practices of mapping, coordinate systems, projections and scales
    • Knowledge of applications programming principles, techniques and documentation practices
    • Strong GIS problem solving skills 
    • Strong knowledge of GIS web map design and deployment                   
    • Working knowledge of Microstation V8
    • Working knowledge of AutoCAD  Civil 3D
    • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities as project needs change 
    • Take direction from multiple project managers
    • Proven ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with all level of employees within an organization
    • Effectively communicate with various levels of employees within an organization
    • Must be able to work 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday with occasional overtime as needed
    • Must be dependable and reliable
