Overview

The Associate Vice-President for Water/Wastewater manages all aspects of the project delivery process, from research to conceptual and final design, and through construction. This position assists in providing on-the-job training to enhance the core competence of team members. This position is expected to be able to work on multiple projects concurrently and deliver on expectations within tight deadlines. This position serves as an interface between the administrative and finance functions within the Pape-Dawson organization and the technical personnel. This position is expected to understand and communicate local market conditions, personnel needs and professional trends. In addition to leading a team of engineers and technical professionals, this position will also be actively involved in professional associations and community organizations as Pape-Dawson continues building partnerships within the community we serve.

Responsibilities

  • Review proposals, budgets, and client agreements
  • Lead, mentor, and oversee design and technical aspects of the team(s) projects including detailed engineering design and calculations, report writing, permitting (local and state) and presentations to clients, public agencies, and the public
  • Write responses to client RFQs and Solicitations
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, public agency officials and community leaders
  • Oversee a team of project managers as they coordinate and monitor project tasks, budgets, and schedules
  • Participate in the development of company design and production standards
  • Actively participate in professional associations and civic organizations within the community
  • Responsible for the technical and professional development of project team(s)
  • Conduct, or oversee the conduct of, investigations on matters such as water storage, permits, or other compliance and regulatory issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited college or university
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) designation in the State of Texas, or ability to acquire registration within 6 months
  • 10 years of experience managing water and wastewater personnel
  • 15 years of experience in potable water and wastewater design
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate, both oral and written skills
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, municipal utility districts, public agency officials and community leaders
  • Proven ability to lead a team of engineers and technical professionals
  • Proven ability to mentor a team of professionals
  • Actively involved in professional associations and civic organizations
