Overview

The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing, facilitating, and communicating the Company’s safety programs and initiatives to ensure compliance and promote a culture of safety within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, update, and audit Company safety, health, and environmental programs to maintain compliance with regulations and standards, promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Identify and address safety issues and incidents promptly to minimize risks to employees and the Company, conducting audits and maintaining comprehensive documentation.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and best practices, providing management with regular updates and ensuring compliance with relevant requirements.
  • Oversee contractor and supplier reporting systems, ensuring alignment with safety metrics and contractual obligations.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual reports on safety metrics and associated costs.
  • Oversee accident investigation, worker’s compensation management, auto accident reporting and insurance coordination, recommending preventative measures.
  • Develop, conduct, or facilitate necessary safety training sessions regularly for the organization, maintaining proper documentation for orientation, toolbox talks, and specialized training programs.
  • Lead dynamic and interactive training sessions for employees on First Aid/CPR/AED procedures, encompassing both theoretical understanding and hands-on practical skills.
  • Ensure workplace chemicals have updated Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Develop and implement emergency response programs for all company locations (fire protection, emergency evacuation, inclement weather, etc.).
  • Perform audits to ensure adherence to PPE and safety equipment standards, while also overseeing vendor relationships and cost management initiatives.
  • Support Fleet Manager in safety inspections of Company vehicles and GPS tracking.
  • Perform Job Hazard Analysis and create Site-Specific Safety Plans as needed.
  • Serve as a resource for employees regarding safety concerns, questions, and reporting procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical training in a safety-related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in safety process management.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with good interpersonal abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to create clear and compliant reporting mechanisms.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and sound judgement in workplace safety and compliance matters, with a solid grasp of safety metrics and risk mitigation strategies.
  • A positive attitude and service-oriented approach to work and people is essential.
  • The ability to work Monday through Friday from 8 am - 5 pm with occasional overtime as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current safety certifications (CHSO, CSHT, OSHA 10 or 30, PEC Safeland/Safegulf, Competent Person Certifications, etc.).
