Overview

This position is responsible for leveraging CAD as an aid to quality design, with a thorough understanding of the integrated use of CAD tools within a roadway design work-flow, a service-oriented demeanor, and a proven desire to learn and promote emerging technology.

Responsibilities

  • Supports various project teams’ utilization of Bentley engineering software from 3D modeling into design and production (ProjectWise; OpenRoads Designer; StormCAD; WaterCAD; ConceptStation; etc.)
  • Develops software templates and resource files based upon client standards for efficient 3D design and modeling of roadways, drainage, and utility design elements
  • Develops processes and techniques for rapid 3D visualization of design concepts
  • Provides regular tech support to project teams through on-line training, webinars and direct support
  • Provide leadership in project set up and configuration to support efficient work-flows
  • Test, refine, and create documentation of CAD-based work-flows using latest software and hardware technology
  • Support and communicate established work-flows to internal staff through 1-on-1 training to team-wide seminar formats
  • Create and update CAD training materials, including manuals and videos
  • Respond to requests for over the shoulder support in a timely and effective manner and maintain searchable documentation of support solutions
  • Troubleshoot design file, workspace, and file management issues as needed
  • Monitor emerging trends and technological capabilities in our industry and develop strategies to incorporate these capabilities where appropriate
  • Review potential program enhancement plugins and extensions
  • Negotiate vendor contracts and provide long term projections

Qualifications

  • 8 years of experience in civil engineering design production using Bentley software
  • Experience and expertise with Microstation, and current Bentley software including OpenRoads technology, 3D modeling, ProjectWise
  • Knowledge of support products including ESRI and Microsoft office products
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with all levels of employees in an organization
  • Self-starter capable of completing tasks with minimal oversight
  • High level of accuracy in work product
  • Must be able to work from 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, with overtime as needed to meet project deadlines
