Overview

As a member of a survey crew, this internship provides support for the successful completion of projects under the direction of the Party Chief and Instrument Operator.

Responsibilities

  • Assist members of the assigned survey crew with various job duties such as clearing brush; carry rod from point to point for staking; set up back site with tripod and prism as well as packing and unpacking survey equipment and supplies in trucks for daily job duties.
  • These job duties and others work to accomplish the successful completion of a project within the established guidelines set forth by Survey Department Manager.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Surveying, Geospatial or Civil Engineering
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all level of employees within an organization, both verbal and written
  • Ability to follow directions from supervisor as well as other members of engineering staff and management team
  • Ability to identify and use various types of survey equipment
  • Ability to work continually outside in all types of weather conditions and terrain
  • Ability to carry and lift up to 35 lbs. on a consistent basis- daily task includes carrying various types of survey equipment such as tripod, prism, rod; hand and power tools and buckets with supplies
  • Must be able to work between the hours of 6 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday; occasional overtime
  • Must be reliable and dependable
