Overview

This position is responsible for providing advanced technical support in the development and design of road and highway projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist a Project Manager in the development and design of road and highway projects to include plans, specifications, and estimates
  • Consult with Project Manager in the review of detailed plans, specifications, and estimate of cost to ensure conformity with the project scope and design standards
  • Develop feasible design alternatives and compare significant parameters such as typical sections, horizontal and vertical alignments, right-of-way requirements and cost
  • Identify and analyze the principle design features and major design alternatives that satisfy a project’s purpose and need
  • Review design details, and coordinate technical recommendations, assess the cost-effective constructibility of the project and generally evaluate the project
  • Produce detailed, final design plans, specifications and estimates in accordance with AASHTO, FHWA, TXDOT

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural, Architectural or Civil engineering from an accredited college or university
  • 1-2 years experience in roadway planning and highway design
  • Working knowledge of Microstation
  • Effective communications skills; both oral and written
  • Ability to interact professionally with clients and all level of employees within an organization
  • Must be able to work Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, with occasional overtime as needed
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registered as a Licensed Engineer In Training (E.I.T.)
