Overview

This position leads and manages land surveying projects as well as the Land Survey staff.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coordinate, and review activities and deliverables of field and office staff assigned to various land surveying projects
  • Work closely with engineering staff and clients
  • Provides guidance and direction to the Survey Technicians and SIT’s
  • Manages and schedules individual projects
  • Performs or delegates tasks as assigned by the Survey Department Manager or Survey Project Manager
  • Performs calculations and prepares field packages
  • Processes acquired field data into a neat and accurate plat of survey and/or Metes and Bounds description
  • Responsible for quality control of drawings and legal descriptions prepared by others
  • Resolves boundaries of properties and oversees the boundary construction and related issues
  • Signs and seals completed drawings, legal descriptions, and surveyor’s reports

Qualifications

  • Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS)
  • 0-4 years as an RPLS
  • Must have experience with ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, TSPS Category 1A Land Title Surveys, topographic surveys for design and construction staking
  • Must have strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with project-related budget management and invoicing
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships
  • Ability to handle complex issues/problems
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees in the organization, both verbally and written.
  • Must be dependable and reliable

Preferred Qualifications

  • TxDOT experience a plus
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Leica, and Microstation
