Overview

The Surveyor in Training works directly with the Registered Professional Land Surveyor (R.P.L.S.) in the preparation of typical survey projects, such as boundary surveys, subdivision plats, construction calculation, topographic and route projects, throughout Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Working under the direction of an RPLS, provides technical support for assigned projects, using AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Completes detailed drawings from field survey data, sketches, plans, specifications, and written or verbal instructions using AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Reviews work for completeness and accuracy prior to submitting to RPLS for review
  • Prepares drawings and/or copies existing drawings and completes simple calculations with specific instructions
  • Conducts field work upon request
  • Assist with deed research and abstract deeds, create base maps for field crews, process field crew data, and produce final drawings
  • Processes acquired field data into a neat and accurate plat of survey and/or Metes and Bounds description

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Working knowledge of MicroStation a plus
  • Ability to analyze survey data and direct field crew as needed
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Flexibility to change priorities on job tasks and/or project deadlines, as needed
  • Ability to handle basic issues and problems identify when more complex issues need to be referred to higher level staff
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees in the organization, both verbally and written
  • Must be dependable and reliable
